Unsteady Effects on NOx Measurements in Pulse Detonation Combustion

چکیده
Abstract Emission measurements from unsteady combustion systems such as Pulse Detonation Combustion (PDC) are challenging due to the inherently large variations in pressure, temperature, composition, and flow velocity of exhaust gas. Comparison experimental data is additionally complicated by differences operating conditions gas sampling setup between different facilities. Qualitative considerations with regard process PDC, based on one-dimensional simulations, indicate a systematic influence extraction resulting concentration measurements. Therefore, frequency, sample time, fill well PDC outlet probe geometry were varied experimentally order assess degree which each these parameters impact measured $${\rm NO}_{\rm x}$$ NO x better inform researchers effects when making It was shown that emissions can vary significantly depending choice therefore care must be exercised reduce technique aiming for comparable results.

Low NOx Combustion Technology for Minimizing NOx
A noble low NOx combustion technology, based on partial oxidation combustion concept in a fuel rich combustion zone, is successfully applied in this research. The burner is designed such that a portion of fuel is heated and pre-vaporized in the furnace then injected into a fuel rich combustion zone so that a partial oxidation reaction occurs. The effects of equivalence ratio, thermal load, and ...
متن کاملThe Dynamics of Unsteady Detonation in Ozone
An ultra-fine, sub-micron discrete grid is used to capture the unsteady dynamics of a one-dimensional detonation in an inviscid O − O2 − O3 mixture. The ultra-fine grid is necessary to capture the length scales revealed by a complementary analysis of the steady detonation wave structure. For the unsteady calculations, shock-fitting coupled with a high order spatio-temporal discretization scheme...

The objective of theoretical, computational and experimental studies outlined in this lecture note was to evaluate the design principles and propulsion performance of prospective air-breathing engines operating on pulse detonations of realistic hydrocarbon fuels with a realistic technique of detonation initiation via deflagration-to-detonation transition (DDT). 1.0 INTRODUCTION Activities in th...
متن کاملThe Dynamics of Unsteady Detonation with Diffusion
The dynamics of one-dimensional detonations predicted by a one-step irreversible Arrhenius kinetic model with the inclusion of mass, momentum, and energy diffusion were investigated. A series of calculations in which activation energy is varied, holding the length scales of diffusion and reaction constant, was performed. As in the inviscid case, as the activation energy increases, the system go...
متن کاملOn the Resolution Necessary to Capture Dynamics of Unsteady Detonation
The dynamics of one-dimensional, overdriven, hydrogen-air detonations predicted in the inviscid limit as well as with the inclusion of mass, momentum, and energy diffusion were investigated. The effect of resolution was studied for both shock-capturing and shockfitting in the inviscid limit, and it was found that shock-capturing required four times the amount of resolution of shock-fitting to p...
